Fingerless gloves

I learned to knit when I was pretty young. My mother knits. Her mother knitted. I've always owned homemade sweaters and mittens and hats. I picked it up again several years ago, knit a few scarves and mittens, and let it drop. Then, two summers ago, I had major surgery which caused me to be couch-bound for weeks. I purchased some beautiful yarn and started knitting a shawl. I'm not finished with it yet, because I got really excited about a few other projects. I also quit taking the pain meds for my hip, which had the lovely side effect of making my arthritis practically non-existent.

So now I knit all the time. I start new projects before the old projects are finished, because I get bored easily, and I'm most likely a bit ADD. But I've made some beautiful hats for my daughter, and matching gloves. I made my son some gloves, and made scarves for my children's teachers. I wish I'd taken pictures of the scarves this year. They were truly beautiful. I really wanted to keep the red one I made for the teacher both my children have. I'll post pictures of some of these items as I get the time.

Now I'm making a pair of fingerless gloves for my friend Katie. I had a pattern all picked out and chose some pretty grey yarn (Vanna's Choice by Lion Brand in Charcoal Grey) to make them. I got most of one of them done and decided that I don't like the pattern after all. Too shapeless. So I'm making up my own pattern.

Here it is:
